About Me
Sincerest apologies if you stumbled across this blog.
I find the notion of writing things and putting them online for others to see rather strange. It feels vaguely narcissistic, and the idea that I think that other people would like to hear what I have to say (or read what I have to write, technically) seems strange and implies that I have a high opinion of myself.
Obviously, there is inherent hypocrisy in complaining about the arrogance of blogging...on my own blog.
I decided to put this blog together as a way to hold myself accountable when it comes to my writing. I enjoy writing, and I thought that if I made my writing public then it would have to be both regular and thoughtful. Besides, I love reading others' blogs, so there is a small part of me that does hope that others will read mine.
I am not very good at coming up with original ideas; I was going to call this blog "Conversations With My Wife" because I spend quite a lot of time (mostly) listening to her thoughts. They are far more inventive and insightful than mine, and they tend to find their way into my writing.
I write about a lot of things: faith, education, running, literature, politics. I try my very best not to sound dogmatic or overly opinionated, but, in the words of Albus Dumbledore, "sadly, accidental rudeness occurs alarmingly often."
